SME Training Partners Scheme (SMETAP)

Training and skills upgrading of employees at all levels is central to the performance of any organization. This is vital especially for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to improve their management and technical skills in order to adapt quickly to constantly changing business environment and to remain competitive. As SMEs are important source of economic growth, appropriate schemes are required to assist and equip SME employers with critical skills that are in accordance to their business needs.

The objective of the SME Training Partners Scheme (SMETAP) is to enhance the momentum of retraining and skills upgrading of the workforce among SME employers.

In this scheme, PSMB and approved training providers will partner to provide relevant training to SMEs employers. Training fees will be be paid directly to training providers who are approved partners and the amount would be debited employers’ levy accounts in accordance with procedures prescribed. This would benefit employers as no upfront payment need to be incurred.

TRAINING PROGRAMME

  • Training programmes offered are in-line with the training needs identified by industry training committees, core competencies identified by industry brainstorming groups and consultant studies.
  • More training programmes, especially those identified by industry training committees , brainstorming groups and consultant studies may be added from time to time.
  • Training Partner proposals submitted will be considered and approved by a committee headed by the Chief Executive / Deputy Chief Executive of PSMB.

CRITERIA FOR TRAINING PARTNER

Training Partner needs to fulfill the following criteria:-

  • Registered as Class A Training Provider with PSMB, including Employers’ or Trade Associations currently registered as Training Providers;
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in delivering corporate training;
  • Have at least 10 training programmes that are conducted at least twice a year for the last 2 years;
  • All trainers have attended the Train-the-Trainer Course; and
  • Have subscribed to PSMB HRD Training Portal.
