Forum for Small And Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
1. BACKGROUND
The National SME Development Council, at the meeting on 2 December 2004 chaired by the Most Honourable Prime Minister, had given a mandate to PSMB to oversee and coordinate overall training and human resource development ( HRD ) of SMEs across all sectors of the economy. Towards this end, the Council had entrusted PSMB with 7 terms of reference, one of which is to “ Establish close linkages with relevant private sector organization and academic institutions to ensure relevancy of training programmes in terms of the human resource needs of the industry ”. One of the ways to establish these close linkages is by organizing forums targeting SMEs as the audience.
2. CONCEPT
Objective of Forum
The objective of the forum is provide a platform for the exchange of ideas regarding SME human resource development in general, raise pertinent questions concerning the relevancy of training programmes for SMEs, discuss weaknesses and problems in SMEs and how to overcome them through relevant and current training programmes; and develop measures to address inadequacies in the implementation of training / development in SMEs.
Theme of Forum
The theme proposed for the forum is “Ensuring the Relevancy of Training Programmes for SMEs- Acquiring Relevant Knowledge And Skills To Keep Pace With Today's Globalized Environment ”.
3. PAPERS AND SPEAKERS
Papers
Two(2) papers will be presented during the forum; each one based on specific sub-themes and issues.
Speakers
The speakers who write and deliver the papers are specially selected from reputable organizations. They are distinguished people respected for their views and years of experience who can provide meaningful advice and guidance.
This form is fully sponsored by PSMB. No fee is needed but participants have to register through the registration form which can be obtain from downloaded form below.
