The National SME Development Council in its
meeting held on 2nd December 2004 had mandated Pembangunan Sumber
Manusia Berhad (PSMB) to be the coordinating authority to oversee
and coordinate overall training and human resource development
of SMEs across all economic sectors in Malaysia. Towards this
end, the Council had entrusted PSMB with 7 functions, one of
which is to identify the training needs of SMEs in various economic
sectors and sub sectors. In the blueprint of actions which was
presented to the Council, a 3-prongs approached was proposed
to identify the training needs of SMEs. They are Brainstorming
Session with representatives from industries, Training Committee
with industry specific and Training Needs Analysis by consultants.
